ET High Officials Visit School Feeding Program Beneficiaries - 30 March, 2016
ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopian officials paida visit to some of the schools that benefit from its school feeding program.
As part of the airline’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, Ethiopian has been involved in a number of philanthropic activities focused on humanitarian and social programs, sports, education, health, as well as community and environment protection in Ethiopia with both local and international charitable organizations to support humanitarian causes in the region.
Ethiopian has launched a school feeding program in various elementary and junior secondary schools in Addis Ababa in November last year. The program benefits students from less fortunate families. The beneficiaries were selected via recommendation made by their respective administrative offices.
Speaking during the visit Mr. Busera Awel, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), said, “Seeing children attending classes attentively and feeling fit and healthy is rewarding; the significant role Ethiopian is playing in this regard will encourage us to strengthen our support even further.”
The CCO also told the children of his belief that they will be key players in the future of Ethiopia.
Mr. Busera added, “Ethiopian has been actively cooperating with different local and international organizations in support of worthy social initiatives; Ethiopian is one of about 50 airlines involved in Boeing’s Humanitarian Delivery Flights programme positioning Ethiopian amongst the carriers with the highest number of Humanitarian Delivery Flights.”
Ethiopian Children’s Fund, Children Heart Fund, Vision for Generation, Mekedonia Home for the elderly and mentally disabled, Save a Child’s heart, Hamlin Fistula International Foundation, Eye Bank of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Red Cross Society and Great Run are few of the humanitarian organizations Ethiopian has collaborated with.
Ethiopian Airlines has recently signed an agreement with Ye Enat Weg Charitable Association to support primary school students with a school feeding program. The general purpose of the program is to augment the on-going education quality assurance initiatives by decreasing the drop-out rate and enhancing active participation of students in the teaching and learning process.
