Ethiopian Aviation Academy (EAA) has been awarded at the 6th Global Aviation Training and TRAINAIR PLUS symposium for delivering the largest number of ICAO courses in 2018. The award was received by Ato Solomon Debebe, Ethiopian Aviation Academy Managing Director at the ceremony held from 4 _ 6 December 2019 in New Delhi, India.
EAA is an ICAO designated Regional Training Center of Excellence (RTCE) and IATA Regional Training Partner (RTP). To date, the academy has trained over 16,000 aviation professionals in different aviation fields. The academy is now embarking on projects aimed at increasing the scale and scope of its training to include Programmable Logic Control Training (PLC), Aviation MBA and Air Traffic Management, among others.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has recognized EAA as a university paving the way for the academy to run aviation related undergraduate and post graduate programs like Aeronautical Engineering and Aviation management.

Ethiopian Aviation Academy Graduates 384 Aviation Professionals
Addis Ababa, 12 November 2019
Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy (EAA), the largest and the most modern Aviation Academy in Africa, has graduated 384 professionals on 12 November 2019 at the premises of the academy.
The graduates include 67 pilots, 70 aircraft technicians, 109 cabin crew, 90 marketing as well as 48 catering professionals drawn from 7 countries. Diplomas and achievement awards were given to the graduates by Acting Chief Commercial Officer of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mr. Esayas WoldeMariam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Esayas congratulated the graduates and remarked “The future of aviation mainly lies in the hands of well-trained and highly disciplined professionals. I am confident that the high-quality, industry-based training and skills you have acquired coupled with the global mind-set, soft skills and good values imbued in you through your education would prepare you to excel in your profession in the dynamic, hyper-competitive aviation industry.
I call upon you to exercise the customer service mindset that you have cultivated, the knowledge and support you have received and the values you have embraced. These are treasures that will serve you well in the future.”

H.E. Dr. Eng. Getahun Mekuria, Minister of Innovation and Technology and Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Ethiopian Group Chief Operating Officer have warmly welcomed young South African aviation enthusiasts who have successfully assembled their own aircraft and made their stopover at Addis Ababa.
The four-seater Sling 4 plane was assembled by the group comprising of 20 teenagers from vastly different backgrounds. The aircraft is being flown from Cape Town and has made its fourth stopover on its way to Cairo.
The innovative youth have expressed their gratitude to Ethiopian Airlines Group and Ministry of Innovation and Technology for the hospitality and encouragement. They also made a fruitful discussion with Ethiopian Group Research and Development (GRAND) unit on how to work in collaboration with the 11 innovative institutes of Ethiopian Airlines Group.
The young aviation enthusiasts also visited Ethiopian Aviation Academy and gave inspirational speech to the trainees of the academy. They were accompanied by the diplomatic members of the Republic of South Africa.
Ethiopian Airlines Group and Ministry of Innovation and Technology have appreciated the aviation enthusiasts for their initiation to assemble the aircraft and fly it in the African skies.
Ethiopian Aviation Academy (EAA) has graduated 22 travel and tourism professionals in IATA Foundation in Travel & Tourism Program on May 10, 2019. The graduates have taken their diplomas after successfully passing IATA’s International exam. The training program, delivered by experienced instructors at the state-of-the-art aviation academy, aims at equipping travel agents with the best knowledge, skills and attitude required to succeed in the industry.
In addition to personal development, the training also plays a significant role in producing skilled manpower to further develop Ethiopia’s tourism sector. EAA has so far trained 13 batches in the same course. The academy is accredited and authorised by IATA and serves as Regional Training Partner (RTP) of the Association.

Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy (EAA), ICAO TRAINAIR Plus member and IATA authorized global training center, graduated 559 aviation professionals at a colorful ceremony held at the Academy’s Commercial and Cabin Crew Training Building on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
The graduates from the Aviation Maintenance, Commercial, Cabin Crew & Catering and Pilot Training Schools of the academy received their diplomas and achievement awards from Mr. Tewolde Gebremariam, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO. At the ceremony, Ethiopian also recognized the 1000th pilot, First Officer Thomas Girma. Mr Tewolde handed the First Officer certificate and gift in the presence of veteran Flight Operations staff, including Captain Damene Tegegne and Captain Leul Abate.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Mr. Tewolde congratulated the graduates and said aviation is a great profession for those who are up to the challenge and the stringent discipline requirement of the profession. He added that the profession demands focus and discipline of the highest order and unwavering commitment to safety and high performance standard. He called on the graduates to execute their job professionally with attitude, behavior and action that inspires trust and confidence in respective customers.

Ethiopian Aviation Academy Celebrates Annual Culture Day
Ethiopian Aviation Academy colorfully celebrated its annual Culture Day on 31st January 2019, at the academy’s Commercial, Leadership and Cabin Crew Training building under the theme, “Ethiopian Aviation Academy Your Multinational Training Hub”. The program was graced by ambassadors of different embassies along with the diplomatic community, invited guests, and Ethiopian employees.
Trainees from a total of 18 different nationalities namely: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo-DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Tchad, Uganda, Yemen and Ethiopia displayed their diverse traditions through cultural performances, traditional food, country profiling which were presented at the exhibit stands dedicated for each country.
The purpose of organizing the event was to promote social interaction and exchange of cultural norms and values among trainees of different nationalities at the academy, which signified the academy as being the epicenter of Pan-Africanism. In addition, the academy has expressed its readiness, at the event to train aspiring young aviation professionals in the African continent.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Rosette Katunegye from Office of the Chairperson African Union Commission remarked, “This was such a beautiful ceremony and celebration of African Culture. Well done Ethiopian Aviation Academy!” In addition, Lt. Col C. Karara , Defense Attache from Embassy of Rwanda on his part said, ”This cultural day for EAA has really been a success and it is well organized. We are happy and it proves that Ethiopia is the land of origins.”
A number of embassy representatives have also expressed their appreciation on the well-organized culture event, and acknowledged Ethiopian Aviation Academy for its dedicated commitment for the promotion of African culture.
Ethiopian Aviation Academy is pleased to announce that it is now fully equipped with state-of-the-art Siemens Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Workshops/Programming Labs and is now capable of providing training at different levels (Intro, Service 1 & Service 2). Training will first start with Ethiopian Airlines Group staffs to be followed by third party customers within and outside Ethiopia (Africa). The project is launched in partnership with Siemens and it is to become a joint ET- Siemens Training Centre of Excellence.
This new capability will address the training need related to PLC equipment maintenance and programming.
Ethiopian Aviation Academy (EAA), ICAO designated Regional Training Center of Excellence, hosted the ICAO Government Safety Inspector Operations – Air Operator Certification Course from November 14-30, 2018. The course is delivered for Government Safety Inspectors from different countries including Botswana, Congo and Namibia.
The participants of the course are designated authorities for certifying air transport operators. EAA will continue to host such critical regulatory trainings. More ICAO Courses are also planned to be delivered in Addis Ababa this year.

Ethiopian Airlines, the largest Aviation Group in Africa and SKYTRAX Certified Four Star Global Airline, and European Union Delegation to Ethiopia signed a letter of intent to establish Ethio-European International Business School (EEIBS). The letter was signed by H.E. Ambassador Johan Borgstam, Head of the European Union Delegation to Ethiopia and Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines on December 04, 2018 at the Airline’s Headquarters.
The Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy (EAA), a Regional Training Center of Excellence, is hosting the ICAO Government Safety Inspectors Personnel Licensing Course. The course is being held for the first time in Ethiopia for 12 Government Safety Inspectors from different countries. The participants are 1 from Ethiopia, 4 from Zambia, 2 from , 1 from Cote , 1 from Mozambique, 1 from Uganda, 1 from São Tomé and Príncipe, and 1 from . The course runs for three weeks from February 5-23, 2018.
The participants are responsible designees for licensing of aviation professionals and aviation training organizations in their respective countries. The main purpose of hosting this course is for Ethiopian Aviation Academy to contribute its share towards safety in the African Skies by improving the standards and processes of personnel licensing in key Aviation Fields.
The academy will continue hosting such important regulatory like the ICAO Government Safety Inspectors Courses for Operations and Airworthiness. EAA has celebrated year for its 26 foreign trainees on January 1, 2018. Zehabta B/Meskel, A/Mgr Sales & Business Development opened the celebration by welcoming the foreign trainees and wished them a happy new year. The event was attended with school managers and invited guests from the Academy. The participants enjoyed delicious lunch and Ethiopian coffee, marking the celebration. The trainees are from Tanzania, Rwanda, Chad, Yemen, Congo, and Nigeria, attending Basic AMTS class and on-the-job training at EAA and ET-MRO.
