- Ethiopian recently signed the Buckingham Palace Declaration
- It will incorporate the 11 commitments of the United For Wildlife (UFW) Buckingham Palace Declaration for airlines engaged in fighting the trade in illegal wildlife.
- We are committing to operate our business in a sustainable, responsible and ethical ways, and we are dedicated to the prevention of wildlife trafficking and raising awareness on the issue and its consequences. We are looking forward to working with key stakeholders and conservation organizations to further combat illegal wildlife trafficking.
- We work to achieve this industry standard by taking concrete steps in the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking, as part of the global effort to help conserve wildlife and biodiversity.
- Will give classroom courses on awareness, Utilize ROUTES e-modules and presentation decks to train employees on ways to identify and respond to instances of wildlife trafficking
- We adopt illegal wildlife policy as part of a Code of Conduct (a zero-tolerance policy regarding trafficked wildlife)
- We train cabin crew, ground handlers, cargo processors, and staff from regional airports to help detect and stop smugglers carrying ivory, rhino horn, and other wildlife products.
- We work with Ethiopian Airports, Ethiopian customs authority, National intelligence and Federal police as the key stakeholders.
- We have created an awareness campaign targeting passengers using their inflight entertainment system and inflight magazine
- We have also created a hotline number to allow people to report suspicious illegal wildlife trafficking activity easily.
- We harmonize a system with major stake holders for the seamless sharing of information about suspicious wild life trafficking activity.
